Looking at the current SEC standings and remaining schedules for each team, what happens in this very possible scenario?
Texas is in the SECCG with 1 loss to GA. Then we have four teams at a 6-2 conference record and 10-2 overall record and two more teams with a 6-2 conference record and a 9-3 overall record. That's seven teams with 2 or fewer conference losses and 5 teams with 10 or more wins. A&M and LSU played very hard games to open the season, does that count for anything since they lost? I've heard a lot of people say if we win out then we're in the CFP but do they take 5 total SEC teams? If not, who gets left out? This is a very interesting and possible scenario and given that Gameday is in Baton Rouge this weekend instead of Oxford (I know they made the decision prior to our win over Ark) may shed a little light on the national perception of Ole Miss and where we stand in this pecking order should we have this log jam.
- Texas - 7-1, 11-1 Texas wins out with a win over A&M
- Georgia 6-2, 10-2 Ole Miss beats GA this weekend then GA beats TN and wins out
- Tennessee 6-2, 10-2 TN loses to GA and then wins out
- Alabama 6-2, 10-2 Bama beats LSU and wins out
- Ole Miss 6-2, 10-2 OM beats GA and wins out
- Texas A&M 6-2, 9-3 A&M loses one more to TX
- LSU 6-2, 9-3 LSU loses to Bama and then wins out
