SEC Co-Players of the Week – Alabama guard Mark Sears and Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier were named SEC Co-Players of the Week. Sears, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior from Muscle Shoals, Ala., averaged 32.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals against No. 15 Missouri and No. 17 Kentucky. Scoring 65 points on just 37 field goal attempts, he shot 54.1 percent (20-of-37) from the field, 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from 3-point range and 94.4 percent (17-of-18) from the free throw line on the week. He opened the week with a 35-point performance against the Tigers and then followed that up with 30 points against the Wildcats. He became the first player in Division I this season to have back-to-back 30-point games against ranked teams and is just the second player to do so in the last 20 years. Lanier, a 6-foot-5, 207-pound fifth-year senior from Nashville, Tenn., scored 30 points and had five rebounds in a win at No. 7 Texas A&M. He became just the second SEC player in the last 20 seasons (2005‐25) to score 30‐plus points in an AP top‐10 road win, including the only one to do so in league play. Lanier tied for the second‐most made 3‐pointers in a game in Tennessee history, becoming just the fourth person—fifth occasion—to hit eight in a contest.
SEC Freshman of the Week – Oklahoma guard Jeremiah Fears, a 6-foot-4, 182-pound freshman from Joliet, Ill., averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals against No. 2 Florida and No. 21 Mississippi State. He registered a game‐high 22 points at No. 2 Florida (tied a career high with four 3‐pointers) along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal. Against Mississippi State, he notched his first career double‐double with 27 points, a career‐high 10, five rebounds, a block and a steal. Fears became just the second SEC player, regardless of class, since at least the 1996‐97 season to register at least 27 points, at least 10 assists and at least 5 rebounds in a game. His 14 free throw attempts against Mississippi State tied a career high and his 11 makes were one shy of his career best
