Player of the Week: Billy Amick, Tennessee
Tennessee’s Billy Amick had a hit in all four games, including homers in each of UT's first three contests of the week. Amick's four homers ranked second among all SEC players in week three and he also finished tied for the conference lead with eight runs scored for the week while his 21 total bases were the third most in the league. Amick went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs scored, three homers and five RBIs in the first two games of UT's series sweep of Bowling Green. The first-year Vol also showcased his defensive prowess with multiple impressive plays at the hot corner, helping turn a pair of double plays while posting a team-leading nine assists and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the week.
Co-Pitcher of the Week: Luke Holman, LSU
LSU’s Luke Holman fired 5.2 shutout innings Friday in a win over No. 8 Texas in the Astros Foundation College Classic. Holman limited the Longhorns to three hits with one walk and a career-high 12 strikeouts. He retired nine of the final 10 batters he faced to complete his outing and move to 3-0 this season with a 0.00 ERA in 18.0 innings.
Co-Pitcher of the Week: Jac Caglianone, Florida
Florida’s Jac Caglianone pitched 6.0 shutout innings to pick up the series-clinching win over Miami on Sunday, striking out a career-high 11 batters and only allowing three hits and two walks. He held the Hurricanes to a .143 batting average. Caglianone also hit a home run in the game, his second of the weekend.
Freshman of the Week: Camden Kozeal, Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt’s Camden Kozeal led the SEC with 14 hits this week, helping lead the Commodores to a 5-0 record against Indiana State, Evansville, UL-Lafayette, Houston and No. 8 Texas. The freshman also led the SEC in RBI (11) and was tied for the lead in doubles (3) and total bases (23). Kozeal started off the week with a 4-for-5 game against previously undefeated Indiana State. He followed that with two hits against Evansville on Wednesday, two hits against Louisiana on Friday, two hits against Houston on Saturday and another 4-for-5 game with a home run on Sunday against Texas. He also scored six times on the week including three runs in Sunday’s win.
