...and I still have no logical explanation for that defensive performance. I knew ahead of time that the defense wasn’t good by any measure. But yesterday was next level bad. The DBs just stood still on some plays, the d-line looked like they were barely trying, and we bit on every single play fake or misdirection. Every. Single. One. I’ve never seen someone get duped by the same trick so many times in a row. There was one play where I think the TE ran what was essentially a wheel route and there wasn’t a DB for twenty yards because they were just chilling downfield watching the play unfold. I realize that I’m not bringing anything new to this conversation, and it’s been discussed as nauseam, but I’m really just looking for a logical explanation for how a SEC defense can fail so miserably.
