As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to appreciate the greatness of the band (especially Paul). I’ve spent a lot of time the last few weeks listening to each of their albums - especially post the first few intro albums (teen idol stuff). I also heard Dana Carvey, David Spade and Jack Black debating which album is best - Carvey is a big Beatles guy and Jack Black knows his music. It was an interesting podcast.
Not that anyone cares but I go
1. Abbey Road - it’s loaded and #1 for my musical taste. It’s also their most iconic album.
2. White Album - it only edges out #3 bc of the greatness of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Deep Prudence”.
3. Sgt. Pepper - the album where they did the most experimenting. A few epic songs on this album. It’s such a different sound and feel - love it.
What’s next 🤷♂️. I really like Let it Be and Magical Mystery Tour but not enough to get close to the top three.
I also never understood the fascination with Revolver. I swear it’s people who want to be cool that say “Revolver” is the best. It’s like saying CODA is the best album by Led Zeppelin.
Lastly, I don’t hate their first four albums. There are songs we all know and like, but it’s not rock and roll - it took them some time to find real rock.
Maybe I feel better now that I got this on “paper”.
