I posted a story a couple of weeks ago about the ‘69 team losing to Kentucky early. Same happened to a lowly USM team in 1970, Archie’s senior year. We were ranked 4th in the country and had beat USM by a score of 63-7 the year before. They whipped us unmercifully in Oxford that early October day.
The problem Saturday was not scheme or playcalling, it was a weak offensive line with no talent at runningback. You have to be able to run the football to win in this conference. No passing game will always click, sometimes you have to run the football effectively to score, particularly in the Red Zone.
