But maybe Lane Kiffin does?
I am not advocating for him to be fired, but it’s time for some perspective.
We have an exceptional football team. When they come together, this team is capable of winning a national championship. Example A is dominating Georgia by 3 scores.
We fell extremely short this year. Not even reaching the playoffs is such a failure it’s hard to even put into words. It’s time to realize why that is. Lane had his worst season as a head coach here.
0-3 in close games. Countless mistakes in the redzone, 4th down playcalling, refusing to play one of the better RBs in the SEC, letting the best RB in the nation walk and then botching portal evaluations, etc. Just abysmal all around
It’s ok to admit that he has elevated this program while also admitting that he has fallen short of the easily attainable goals he set this season. Calling it the last dance and then losing to 7-5 LSU, 4-8 Kentucky, and 7-5 Florida is abysmal. Just a complete failure on all accounts.
Next season should be a very critical season for him. He has not earned the right of a “gap” year. He elevated this program to new heights and then fumbled this season mightily. Both can be true. Goodluck to Austin Simmons.
