We'll lead off with this from Warchant.com's Michael Langston about Jackson, Miss., four-star DL Breeland Speaks:
FSU moving up with four-star DE
The great thing about camps is the new names that seem to emerge out of nowhere. That was the case Wednesday, when four-star defensive tackle Breeland Speaks of Jackson, Miss. made quite an impression during the one-on-one portion of the camp. The state's No. 5 ranked player and Rivals250 member picked up an offer from FSU last Friday.
"That offer meant a lot considering all the athletes that Florida has and then to come all the way to Mississippi to pull me says something about them," Breeland told Warchant.com. "They want the best and I was a little surprised."
Earlier in the day, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound end got a chance to take a closer look at the campus and facilities.
"I love the campus. It looks like a castle around here. It's tight, I like it," he said. "FSU is definitely now in the playing field and I can't wait to come back up. I felt comfortable here."
A big highlight of the day was working with FSU defensive line coach Odell Haggins, who certainly pushed Speaks to his limits.
"This was my first time working with him and he's going to get onto people. He's a great coach," speaks said.
Speaks says there were several reasons he decided to visit this week. He was impressed with FSU's coaching staff, his relationship with Tim Brewster and what FSU develops its defensive tackles.
"They (FSU's defense) are just dogs. When you watch them, the pass rush stands out about how they get after the quarterback and I really liked that," Speaks said.
At one point of the camp, Jimbo Fisher had a chance to chat with Speaks.
"He just said I'm doing a great job and (talked about) how bad he wanted me there," Speaks said.
