Welcome to The Wednesday Word! This devotional series began as part of my New Year’s resolution to spend more time in God’s Word, and I felt led to share what I’m learning along the way. My hope is that these weekly reflections encourage, challenge, and bless you as much as they do me. God bless & Hotty Toddy!

Here’s last week's if you missed it:

Living With Purpose

Scriptures:

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
— Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

"Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails."
— Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)

Reflection:

Have you ever wondered why you are here? What your purpose is? It’s a question many wrestle with at some point in life. The good news is that God has already given us the answer—He created us for a purpose. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God’s handiwork, uniquely designed to do the good works He has planned for us. We are not here by accident; our lives are meant to reflect His glory and serve His kingdom. However, Proverbs 19:21 warns us that while we may have our own plans, it is ultimately God’s purpose that prevails. We often chase success, recognition, or comfort, thinking these will bring fulfillment. But true purpose comes from aligning our lives with God’s will. When we seek Him first, He directs our steps and reveals the work He has prepared for us.

If you feel uncertain about your purpose, remember this: You were created with intention. Your gifts, experiences, and even struggles are all part of God’s plan. Seek Him, trust His timing, and step into the purpose He has for you.

How to Apply This to My Life:
  • Seek God First – Spend time in prayer and Scripture, asking God to reveal His purpose for your life.
  • Use Your Gifts – Identify the talents and passions God has given you and find ways to use them for His glory.
  • Trust His Timing – You may not see the full picture now, but trust that God is leading you step by step.
  • Let Go of Your Own Plans – Be willing to surrender your desires in favor of God’s greater purpose.
  • Serve Others – Often, our purpose is found in how we love and serve those around us.
  • Stay Faithful – Even in seasons of waiting, remain faithful in the small things, knowing that God is always at work.

Today’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me with a purpose. Help me to seek Your will above my own and to trust that Your plans for my life are greater than anything I could imagine. Open my eyes to the opportunities You have placed before me, and give me the courage to walk in the purpose You have set for me. Let my life bring You glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
