SEC BASEBALL WEEKLY HONORS – APRIL 22, 2024

Player of the Week: Christian Moore, Tennessee

Tennessee’s Christian Moore helped the Vols secure a series win at No. 3 Kentucky by going 9-for-15 with four home runs, a double and nine RBIs. On Saturday and Sunday, Moore went 8-for-11 with five runs scored, four home runs and eight RBIs in those two contests. He tied his career high with four base hits in back-to-back games and set new career bests with four runs, three homers and six RBIs in Sunday’s rubber game. His three long balls tied the single-game program record and also moved him into first place on Tennessee’s career home runs list with 46.

Pitcher of the Week: Gage Jump, LSU

LSU’s Gage Jump fired a seven-inning complete game on Friday to lead the Tigers to a series-opening win over Missouri. Jump limited Mizzou to one run on three hits with one walk and a career-high 14 strikeouts. He threw 98 pitches in the outing, 65 for strikes and retired 12 of the final 13 batters he faced, including 10 by strikeout. Jump’s 14 strikeouts marked the most by an LSU pitcher since Ty Floyd recorded 17 strikeouts versus Florida last June in the College World Series.

Freshman of the Week: Gavin Grahovac, Texas A&M

Texas A&M’s Gavin Grahovac registered a .350/.409/.550 slash line to go along with a homer, seven RBI and seven runs scored to help the Aggies to a 3-1 record last week. In the series win at No. 12 Alabama, Grahovac was 6-for-16 with a double and home run. Six of the freshman’s seven RBI last week came in the series win against the Crimson Tide.
