I've seen a lot of posts attempting to paint the fan base as ignorant and stupid for reacting to the moves that Dan Jones has recently made. The fan base is not the problem. The fan base is not naive. It's easy to see what the administration is trying to do. The athletic side of Ole Miss is more conservative and they knew that getting rid of Ole Miss would create a firestorm so they chose to get rid of it on the academic side. It is an attempt to further divide the alumni rather than pull everyone together. If there wasn't an agenda behind it there would never have been a public announcement. A public announcement is proof of an agenda. Why weren't these changes been brought forth before the alumni prior to the announcement? Why can't the alumni be consulted with prior to making announcements of this nature? This is NOT Dan Jones' decision. It is a decision for the alumni of the university. The authoritarian manner in which the Lyceum continues to act needs to stop. Things like this need to be debated privately among the alumni before any public announcements are made especially since the Lyceum is so immature about handling these things. Blaming and painting the fan base as being ignorant and stupid for being opposed to this action is asinine.
