And here we are, on this gray autumn day, under the somber light that settles on our field, where Ole Miss ought to be making its stand, yet finds itself floundering. A bye week behind us that should have brought clarity and fire instead left us rusty, heavy with hesitation, our game dulled. Oklahoma, by all accounts the lesser team, has arrived with purpose, seizing the day while we struggle to find our footing.

Jaxson Dart, who we know can spark something greater, stands lost under the weight of confusion, each play a tentative step into quicksand. Our offense, expected to come alive, has managed only one feeble touchdown, looking like a shell of what it should be. And on defense—well, there’s barely anything worth the name. Uninspired and porous, our line crumbles as Oklahoma slices through with ease. It’s a sad sight, our defensive coordinator looking as unprepared as the players themselves, caught flat-footed against a team that came here ready to expose every gap, every weakness.

Yet the half still looms ahead. We’ve got two more quarters, two more quarters to pull ourselves up, to remember that we’re the better team, that this is our game to lose. It’s not on Charlie Weiss, not the playbook’s fault or any one scheme. No, this falls squarely on Lane Kiffin, the head coach who should be leading with vision and fire, who needs to pull his head out of his ass and see this team, his team, for what it is and what it could be.

We are better than this. But if we’re going to make good on that truth, we need Kiffin to wake up, to steer this ship back on course and make the adjustments to bring us back to the team we know we are.
