FOOTBALL: Sankey acknowledges CFP is flawed

Sounds like the mutts

have identified their new savior. Arnold doesn't sound like is gonna happen.

Bone#1. Today, I have spoken with sources in four different states about former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold, including contacts at both Auburn and Oklahoma. Here is what I have learned. Auburn was considered to be the favorite privately before Arnold even entered the portal. I am told part of the attraction there is that they have most of the offensive pieces are already in place and that Auburn simply needs a plug and play quarterback. I am hearing that the Tigers may only take six more portal commitments between now and the end of the month. Auburn has a redshirt freshman quarterback returning and a true freshman coming in. Auburn is expected to take a pair of quarterbacks in the portal, but one is expected to be considered a back-up and a guy to provide some competition. A source close to Arnold's portal process shares that a visit to Mississippi State has not been confirmed. He didn't totally rule it out, but said as of now, he is not aware of any other visits. I know there are some other reports out there, but I can only report what I learn independently. Finally, a source at Auburn shared this evening that Arnold told him directly that he does not have any other visits scheduled at this time. I have learned to never say never in this business, but the chatter today mirrors more of what I heard last night. It appears that Auburn is in a good position.

Bone#2. Former Florida State quarterback Luke Kromenhoek is expected to visit Mississippi State this weekend beginning on Sunday. I am told that he and his family have a tremendous amount of respect for Lebby and that they see State as a chance to get a career reset. While I cannot rule other portal quarterback prospect out this early in the process, I get the sense that the Bulldog focus is trained on Kromenhoek. He will be a true sophomore, which essentially serves as a replacement for Van Buren.
