Miss High School Football Championships

Choctaw County 34
Noxubee 27 Final

HATTIESBURG — Choctaw County is the MHSAA Class 3A football champion.

The Chargers (14-1) defeated Noxubee County (11-3) 34-27 on Thursday at Southern Miss' M. M. Roberts Stadium.

It’s Choctaw County’s first state championship in program history. Noxubee County has now lost five state championships games in a row since its last title in 2017.

Choctaw County led the entire game and looked primed to seal the championship with the ball in Noxubee County territory up 34-27 with under five minutes to play. However, quarterback KJ Cork threw an interception that gave the Tigers life. Noxubee County drove down the field but star quarterback and Mississippi State signee KaMario Taylor threw an incomplete pass on fourth down at the Chargers’ 15-yard line with 1:52 to play.

Choctaw County star wide receiver and Ole Miss signee Caleb Cunningham had four catches for 52 yards and seven rushes for 42 yards. He scored a touchdown in the third quarter on a 39-yard screen pass on fourth down.

Taylor went 10-for-23 with 151 passing yards, one touchdown and a two-point conversion.
