There are 8 other SEC teams with upcoming bowl games plus 2 other SEC teams among the 8 teams still vying for a national title.

The current portal rankings don’t mean much. There are a lot of big fish left to test the waters.

The guys on defense? I’m going to trust our defensive coaches. Each of the linebackers from lower conferences had more than 100 tackles last year. There are several players we either played against or finished second on where the interest was mutual.

We have scouts who are damn good at what they do who have learned from past mistakes.

For anyone bitching about results up to this point … be patient. Let our guys work. Their livelihood depends on their ability to find the puzzle pieces and put it all together.

I am glad this is being discussed. However, can someone explain to me why anyone other than the SEC, Big 10, and Notre Dame would agree to this?

The SEC and Big 10 would have a better chance at getting multiple byes. Notre Dame would now gain potential access to byes, which they don’t have today.

That’s only 3 of 11 votes required though. Why would any of the other conference commissioners come to an agreement to change the format to where they are less likely to get a bye, even if it’s for one year?

The only thing I can think is that maybe the Big 10 and SEC are making verbal promises about the 2026 format.
