.. I used to say that we got the shortest end of the stick and the absolute worst rival in the country.
The more I've learned about Texas A&M and their "traditions," the more it affirms that Texas got the crazy, cult rival that wraps its whole identity and existence around its rival.
Don't get me wrong. State still does some weird stuff, and frankly our rivalry is probably similar to theirs on a smaller scale.
They do GTHOM for nearly everything, you have fan site "reporters" colluding with NCAA investigators, and generally their fans wish failure on their rival more than success for their own program. As to why I think they can't navigate this new landscape. No calling Indianapolis and/or drumming up NCAA investigations with rumors anymore.
However, A&M is bonkers crazy. Not only do they have the obsession, but the rituals are counterproductive for anyone to root for them. Texas is about as unlikable as any blueblood, but A&M makes them look like sane bystanders.
