Kiffin and his staff appear to be doing what Ole Miss fans have wanted since 1971.

For the first time since JHV roamed the sidelines, it appears we are putting our foot down on MSU and constantly adding pressure. I know we want to compete with Alabama and Georgia, but one of the first steps is to get the top players in Mississippi, and to do that, Ole Miss needs to consistently get the top players in the state.

State College has not done well in portal recruiting from the beginning, but now the MSU staff is hurting badly in recruiting HS and JUCO players.

At this point, Ole Miss is ranked #18 by Rivals, but 6 of the teams ahead of Ole Miss have larger classes, and 7 of the teams ahead of Ole Miss have lower star averages. Oregon is the only team below the Rebs in RIvals' rankings with a higher star average. Thus, the Rebs are at #12 in average star ranking. If we keep this up and sign a similar portal class as in past years, the Rebs will clearly be in the top 10 overall.

MSU is ranked at #60 overall. While the Rebs have eight 4-star players out of 13 commits, the Humbers are sitting with one 4-star player, and four of their players have not been ranked yet, so they will likely be low 3-star players.

This is why expectations are so low in Starkville right now.
