Last Wednesday we had our little boy just shy of 35 weeks. He was growth restricted but everything seemed good after the c section. He was breathing and feeding on his own. We were thrilled and thought/told he just needs to up his feeding and gain weight. He could be head home in just a couple weeks.
All those thoughts disappeared today. They told us yesterday they were going to do a heart echo as precaution today. We got the call that in the echo that found a narrowing in his aorta they were ordering a ct scan to see more details.
We got there before he got back from his Ct scan. They found several areas in the aorta valve that has narrowing. That is causing bad blood flow through his body. Mostly, his legs. The plan right now is to give him meds to try to open a pda up and help with blood flow.
He will have to have heart surgery to repair the aorta before he comes home.
If it does, they will continue to let him grow cause the bigger he gets the less risky the surgery is. If the meds don’t help. They will get another game plan together.
Any prayers would be appreciated these next few weeks are probably going to be lots of up and downs. I know this was long but it’s been a day.
