Doug Nikhazy starts for the Guardians at 5:10 today in Cleveland against the Red Sox and Walker Buehler. I asked Bianco about it last night.
“I didn’t know that (he is starting on Saturday). We heard he got up and probably going to pitch out of the pen. Doug Day. I texted him a little back and forth and know he’s excited. As a coach you’re always super excited and proud and happy for the guys to reach the pinnacle and their ultimate dream, and he’s one who’s worked really hard to get there. He’s not 6-foot-5 throwing 97, but he’s a pitcher and a winner, and my hope is he gets up there and just be himself and that’s going to be good enough.”
