Couldn't understand why we and some others toss the ball to the 2B or SS in that situation.
So I was told that unlike MLB or HS, if you step off and don't throw it counts as a "step off." In college, unlike HS and MLB, you are allowed one free step off per batter. A second step off and the hitter is awarded a ball. However, if you throw the ball it's considered a pickoff, and doesn't count against you. So when a pitcher makes an inside move there the thought is to try to get them to show bunt, but not get the step off called against the pitcher. That's why we toss it to the 2B or SS in that situation.
Couldn't for the life of me understand why we threw the ball in that situation, but that makes sense.
