OM RBs... 1974-2021

In the thread about the 1989 Liberty Bowl.. There were mentions of Randy Baldwin.. One poster said:

......"I was shocked at the stat mentioned in this video that he had rushed for 650 yards that season which according to the announcement was the most by a Rebel running back since 1979!!! That is hard to believe. Buford McGee surely had more yards in a year than 650 right."...

With it being a lazy, chilly day outside and wanting to pass time until the Texans-Ravens game, I decided to do a quick lookup of the RB stats from 1974 to 2021, essentially from the Ken Cooper era till the early Kiffin era.. Excuse my sloppy penmanship.. I usually type lists like this, but I think you can make out just enough to figure out the yearly leaders...

One thing about OM RBs, talented or not so much, OM basically was RB by committee.. We might have a guy rush for 600 yards, then two guys for 400. We had one year, 2019, when a QB, JRP was the team rushing leader by a wide margin..

In the early years, certainly the 70s and mid 80s, we'd have 3-4 guys rush for 300-400-500 yards each.. maybe not more than 110-140 carries each a year..

Take the 1975 season... You had:

Michael Sweet 653 yards on 146 carries
Paul Hofer 413--80
James Storey 389--75
James Reed 378--78

Anyway, discuss away...

A little humor this am!!

Bubba went to Mississippi State on a football scholarship. He was a good running back, but a poor student.

At graduation day, Bubba didn't have enough credits. But he was a great football star and the students held a rally and demanded the dean give him a diploma anyway. They were so insistent that the dean agreed if Bubba could answer one question correctly he would give him a diploma.

The one question test was held in the auditorium and the students packed the place. It was standing room only.

The dean was on the stage and told Bubba to come up. The dean had the diploma in his hand and said, "Bubba, if you can answer this question correctly I'll give you your diploma." Bubba said he was ready and the dean asked him the question. "Bubba," he said, "How much is three times seven?"

Bubba looked up at the ceiling and then down at his shoes, just pondering the question. The students began chanting, "Graduate him anyway! Graduate him anyway!"

Then Bubba held up his hand and the auditorium became silent. Bubba said, "I think I know the answer. Three times seven is twenty-one."

A hush fell over the auditorium...and then the State students began another chant. "Give him another chance! Give him another chance!"

OT: Taxes

Alright RG tax pros. For over a decade I’ve used Turbo Tax because my taxes are simple. This year my numbers don’t look right (maybe they are, but I’m getting hosed by Uncle Sam). I Iive in a small town with no good CPA’s.

Is there a good virtual option where I can get this knocked out? If so, who do you recommend?

Something That Worried Me All Night..

You know how you think of something really trivial, then it starts snowballing to a point where it just gnaws on your mind?

I caught a replay of Nick Saban’s retirement interview last night.. I had only seen bits of it previously..

I got to wondering if Saban and Prime Time will continue to make AFLAC commercials together?

Seems like every SEC game I saw on TV last season, the “dynamic duo” was shown 20-30 times a game…

Maybe Kiffin can replace Saban as Prime Time’s co-star?

The only problem I see is Juice Kiffin might attack the AFLAC duck… after all, yellow labs are retriever dogs..
