Obligatory thread to give credit to the coaches

I was outspoken in my displeasure with the return on investment earlier in the year. I was supportive of those who withdrew their GC support after the LSU game, and I was critical of the coaches after lackluster performances against Kentucky and LSU.

It took longer than it should've, but it appears they have this team dialed in now. Not a bunch of talented individuals, but a true team. I'd be willing to put this group up against anyone in America with the way they're playing at this point.

I say all that to say, the SMU model does appear to work. We may have very well bought our way into the playoffs, and you can bet support is/will be on fire going forward into portal season if we make the playoffs.

Interesting stat: Darts’s final completion was the TD to Wells with 6:10 in the 3rd.

We only threw the ball 4 more times, all incompletions. Everything else was on the ground.

That says something about the trust in the defense and the way they kept giving us field position with the turnovers.

Going the final 21 minutes without a single complete pass is something I would never have predicted.

Postgame show

Yesterday was freaking amazing. Even though there were other big games on, I wanted to continue to bask in the glory of the Ole Miss victory, so I pulled up the post game show on the smart tv. There was Chase, ever the skillful moderator. He was interrupted a few times by giggling little kids, but he didn’t let that become much of a distraction. We love Chase, so he gets a pass for that. Then there was Siskey, who has really grown into this media role. I wasn’t sure what to think for a while. I couldn’t understand what Neal saw in him. But he has settled in and brings so much to the table. We’re lucky to have him. And then there was that guy who wouldn’t sit still. He kept moving around while Siskey and Chase were talking and then he would pop on screen and interrupt with some comment that revealed that he was only half paying attention. Newsflash: It was the biggest night ever for Ole Miss fans. No one - literally no one - logged in to watch you cook a steak. We wanted to hear cogent takes on the game. We were waiting for Neal to come on and put a bow on it. Jesus, I’ve been a supporter of Neal’s decision to promote and develop Jeffrey, and I’m happy that the kid has found success. But damn, if you’re going to do a show, sit down and do it. Otherwise, go cook your steak and feed your baby and don’t ruin a great show.

Can we steal a premier league chant?

Great win last night, and as someone that grew up 45 minutes from Athens, the cope from my UGA friends is hilarious to watch. I was also super impressed with the crowd noise, several times the ref’s mic was drowned out by the noise on tv, all around great stuff.

However, I was watching my EPL team get whooped this morning (Nottingham Forest). The City Ground has great support and they say “Come on you Reds” over and over at full tilt and it’s awesome. I believe Liverpool does something similar.

Can we adopt that with a slight change to “Come on you Rebs” just to add some variety to the noise? Or is it sacrilege? Would love to have VHS yelling it over and over while we stomp MSU in the ground to lock up a playoff spot.
