Coaches returning to previous stops was more common years ago. World War II affected a few but there haven't been many of recent vintage.

I'm not including Johnny Vaught who came back for a portion of a season or guys like Barry Alvarez or Bob Stoops who only coached a Bowl Game

Most Notable :

Mack Brown - Left UNC for Teaxas and came back

Johnny Majors - 4 years at Pitt including a NC and then left for UT and then came back to Pitt for 4 years

John Robinson - Very successful in the 80s at USC. Left for the NFL and then coached another four at USC

Greg Schiano - Rutgers

Bill Snyder - Kansas State
