Georgia throwing screens in the final minutes…

Lane mentioned this in one of his comments, but how much respect is that for your pass rush when a team needs multiple scores quickly, and they don’t attempt to throw it down the field?

That pass rush was so dominant last night. I’m re-watching right now, and there are a lot of plays where it looks like Georgia was just letting guys go free. We’ve had some great fronts (the Bowens/Hand front in the 90s, the Jerry/Powe/Hardy front in the late 00s, the 2014 D), but this one may be better than all of them.

Well, that game should settle the question about the fans.

Because that environment was brutal for Georgia. Not a single possession did the entire stadium sit. Not offense, not defense. Stood literally the entire game. I sat a few times during timeouts to collect myself, and that’s all.

Unreal stadium today. The rain wasn’t even an issue. It made it even more awesome.

Payback Redux

The turnaround from the ‘23 loss to UGA in Athens to yesterday’s win was quite remarkable, given the point differential and lopsided stat edge.

It made me think of the turnaround of the two games against Texas in the Hugh Freeze era..

Texas absolutely stomped OM in Oxford, winning 66-31, while coming away with a huge stats edge.

In ‘13, the Rebs would roll into Austin and spank Texas 44-23, a +21 point differential and a similar stats edge for OM..

Those were unexpected turnarounds.

Chase, when you write your book on this Championship season, a whole chapter should be about Austin Simmons’ TD Drive of the MILLENNIUM.

That was some John Wayne shit right out of a movie. I know the kid is talented and physically gifted but to come off the bench and stare down that defense, in the rain, on that stage, with our backs against the wall, in front of 70,000 panicked fans is what dreams are made of. The defense may have deserved the game ball but I hope they put a bow on it and hand it to Simmons today bc that drive literally saved our season. Just incredible.
