Bama has a better resume than Texas

Yes Bama lost to Texas in September.

Texas wins:
#8 Alabama - on the road
#18 OK State - Neutral site
#25 K State - At home in OT

Lost to #12 OU - Neutral Site

Alabama wins
#1 UGA - Neutral Site
#11 Ole Miss - At home
#13 LSU - At home
#22 Tennessee - At home

Lost to #7 Texas - At Home

Yes Texas beat them in September but those but I still think if they played today Texas ain’t winning.

Does the SEC Champ get left out?

The playoff and a few random OM thoughts

What an interesting debate this playoff is. There are so many correct answers.

My four best teams:
Georgia, Alabama, Texas and Washington

The four teams that are most deserving:
Washington, Michigan, FSU and Texas

My guess at what the committee does:
Washington, Michigan, FSU and Texas

A few thoughts:

You can’t penalize FSU for their QB getting injured. They play their conference and scheduled Florida and LSU out of conference. In no world should they be penalized for having an injury that didn’t cost them a game. All of that said, I don’t think that they will beat any of the 6 or 7 teams that are involved in these discussions. Crazy.

You have to take into consideration that Texas beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I don’t care when it was played or what Bama’s QB situation was. They won their conference and did it in style.

Washington went undefeated in a loaded PAC 12 and beat (IMO) a really good Oregon team twice. IMO, they played the best group of QBs of any of the teams in this discussion and beat them all. Their ability to play dynamic offense and move the football vertically makes them a very interesting matchup for anyone in the field, not to mention their emerging ground game.

I think Alabama and Georgia would be favored against every team in this discussion on a neutral field. It’s wild that we live in a world where the SEC might not, and arguably should not be represented in the final four team playoff. Wouldn’t hurt my feelings one bit if they aren’t. 😂

What a whacky ass year of football and I’ve enjoyed the heck out of it.

Side note: it’s a great time to be a Rebel fan. We’re witnessing the fun part of what could be a move up the college football hierarchy here at Ole Miss. Truly grateful to have what I think is the most impressive and supportive administration, motivated and generous fan base, and capable group of football coaches in my life time. If you’re a fan of this place take a moment to be enjoy it and be grateful. This is really special.

Last thought: what Chris Beard is doing with Ole Miss basketball is something I never thought would happen here. Not that it couldn’t, because we’ve seen it happen at Bama and Auburn, but that it wouldn’t. It is truly unbelievable.

Ok, my actual last thought: Build a freaking statue of Keith Carter the size of the Texas. That man has moved Ole Miss athletics into the future and everything he touches seems to turn to gold. If you see him in the streets give that man a firm handshake and let him know sincerely what you think of the job he’s done. Without him and his staff, none of this is possible.

Sorry for the rambling and scattered thoughts.
