BASEBALL: What does new roster limit mean for college baseball?

The House Settlement conversation and related NCAA rule changes have mostly been focused on the revenue sharing elements of the near future, but the roster limits are real things, as well.

Football’s roster limit starting in the fall is moving from 125 to 105, and teams can – but don’t have to – give scholarships to the entire roster. Increased scholarships, up to a certain amount, come out of the revenue sharing pie, so some schools are hesitant to go full bore on this scholarship increase.

Football quality has gone down DRAMATICALLY over the years

5 games this wildcard weekend, only 1 of them was a good game. Idk if it’s that I’m getting older, but I don’t think it’s what it used to be. This used to be one of the best sporting weekends of the year, and for every game but 2 (eagles packers, and commanders bucs) I turned it off early because it was a blow out. Eagles packers was close late, but both teams played pretty terribly. Just because games close doesn’t mean it’s entertaining.

Even the CFB playoff, we’ve seen 10 games. We’ve seen 3 good games.

Lane Kiffin and Chris Beard

We’ve got 2 of the best coaches, in their respective sports, at Ole Miss at the same time. I truly believe Beard will get the basketball program to where Lane has the football program, with our support! Let’s beat State’s ass tomorrow and then give Purdue all they want tomorrow night and see what we’ve got. The football and basketball program have never been in better shape! Hotty Toddy

What's the feeling in NWA currently?

Gotta be tough to watch what Beard is doing with this Ole Miss team, then look at all the money that went into bringing Cal in and the Tyson/Wal-Mart money that poured in for NIL, and see the Hogs at the bottom of the league standings. (Yes I know Cal will keep bringing in elite talent and will probably be fine)

Granted, it's still early. But they better kick it into gear soon if they want to think about dancing.

HOOPS: KenPom snapshot

Ole Miss moved to 18th nationally in KenPom after last night's win over Alabama. That's sixth in the SEC behind Auburn (1), Tennessee (5), Florida (6), Alabama (10) and Kentucky (16). Purdue is 12 just for reference.

KenPom projects Ole Miss at 22-9 overall and 11-7 in the SEC. The Rebels are at 60 percent chance of winning or better against Texas A&M (61), Texas (74), Kentucky (60), at LSU (66), at South Carolina (68), MSU (63), at Vandy (60) and Oklahoma (76). State in Starkville on Saturday is 38 percent.

Ole Miss is second nationally in offensive turnover percentage and 10th in defensive turnover percentage. Fifth in non-steal turnovers so basically fifth best at not doing stupid stuff with the basketball. Offensive adjusted efficiency is 34, and defensive adjusted efficiency is 14.

Opponent possession length is 278th, so Ole Miss is making opponents use a lot of the shot clock.
